May, 10, 2025 | PROJECT NEWS

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the first round of wind tunnel testing for the EU Project Avatar, conducted at Imperial College London. This significant step forward was made possible through a remarkable collaborative effort involving Ilias Giannakeas and Yuhang Pan from Imperial College London’s Structural Integrity and Health Monitoring Group, alongside Shengkai Guo from Loughborough University.

The focus of the tests was on measuring the response of the composite wings of Nordic Wing’s ASTERO drone under aerodynamic loading. The data collected will serve as critical validation for the digital twin system being developed by AVATAR. This pioneering system combines smart sensing skins and real-time analytics to enhance the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of transformative air vehicles (TAVs) for urban air mobility.
